A train strike is set to disrupt services on the London Euston route in the coming days. The walkout, scheduled for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, will affect London Northwestern Railway services on the West Coast Main Line routes.
Passengers have been warned to expect fewer trains on LNR's routes between Euston, Birmingham, and Crewe, with some sections having no trains at all. The train company has urged people to check their trips on the journey planner.
On Friday and Saturday, only one train per hour will run on certain routes, including Birmingham to Liverpool, London Euston to Crewe, Birmingham to Euston via Northampton, Milton Keynes to Euston, and Watford Junction to St Albans Abbey. However, on Friday, no trains will run after 7 pm, and several routes will end earlier than usual.
The final London Euston to Crewe departure on Friday will be at 3:46 pm. On Saturday, trains will start later than usual, and services are likely to be busy. The Marston Vale Line and the Stafford-Crewe via Stoke-on-Trent will have no service on Friday and Saturday.
Although the strike finishes on Saturday night, some disruption is expected on Sunday morning due to displaced trains. Roster clerks and duty train crew managers are walking out as part of an ongoing row over rest day working payments.
The TSSA union has called the strike, citing the rail operator's and government's failure to assure workers that their rest day agreement will be brought in line with other unions. The union says its members have not been given parity with those in other unions, a demand they consider reasonable.
LNR's customer experience director has expressed disappointment at the strike action, stating that the company is working hard to reach a resolution to the dispute and urging the TSSA to continue talks. The company is doing everything it can to minimize the impact on customers.
