Brantford Man Charged in Aerospace Theft as Halton Police Investigate Shooting

Halton Regional Police have charged a 30‑year‑old man in connection with a theft from an Oakville aerospace company.

The investigation began in early June after specialized millwright and aerospace equipment disappeared and the stolen items appeared for sale on social media platforms.

A search warrant executed on June 30 at a Brantford residence resulted in the suspect’s arrest; authorities recovered approximately $250,000 in millwright and aerospace equipment, more than $150,000 in cash, and several high‑value designer watches and sunglasses believed to be proceeds of the crime.

The accused, identified as Abhishek Kumar Patel, faces charges of theft over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and trafficking of property obtained by crime.

Investigators continue to work with the affected business to locate additional stolen property and determine whether further charges are warranted, and they are requesting tips from the public.

Halton police are also seeking assistance in identifying a vehicle linked to a shooting in Oakville on July 1.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., a lone suspect exited a white four‑door sedan parked on Sawyer Drive, fired multiple shots at a residence and a vehicle in the driveway, and then fled; no injuries were reported.

Authorities ask anyone with video footage from the Sawyer Drive area between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. on July 1 to contact the district criminal investigations bureau, and they also welcome anonymous tips.

A two‑alarm fire broke out early Thursday at a senior‑housing building on Victoria Park Avenue and O’Connor Drive, seriously injuring two women.

The blaze originated from a mattress fire in a hallway, was extinguished by fire crews, and displaced residents were provided shelter buses while the building is assessed.

Officials indicated that residents of the ninth‑floor south side will not be able to return for at least a week as repairs are completed.
