The victims included a woman who attempted to bring the explosive device into the restaurant, a security guard, and a patron. At least 21 more people were injured in the explosion, which occurred around 8 p.m. on a ground floor terrace at Kudrinksaya Square.

Kudrinksaya Square is a prominent area featuring seven skyscrapers built during the Stalin regime. The explosion happened at the Balzi Rossi restaurant, which was closed on Saturday for a private event, according to the restaurant's website.

Heavily armed law enforcement was seen at the scene, responding to the incident. The explosion has left many shaken and prompted an investigation into its cause.
