Team Philippines continued its impressive run in the IWF World Youth Championships in Cali, Colombia, with Jhodie Peralta and Kirby Alas-as securing two silvers and one silver, respectively, on Tuesday.
Jhodie Peralta, a medalist in the Asian Youth Games, went for the gold in the women's 53-kilogram snatch and total but fell short, settling for silvers with a lift of 85 kg and 188 kg, respectively.
Turkmenistan's Ogulshat Amanova dominated the same class, sweeping all three medals.
In the men's 60-kilogram snatch, Kirby Alas-as pocketed a silver with a lift of 113 kg.
The Filipinos' efforts came on the heels of a successful day on Monday, where they scooped four golds, three of which were won by Alexsandra Ann Diaz and the other by Jay-R Colonia.
Alexsandra Ann Diaz's impressive sweep was made even sweeter as she set two new world records in clean and jerk and total lift.
Team Philippines is looking to build on its momentum, with Rhianne Cabalida and Jea Mae Palagtiw set to compete in the women's 69 kg and 77-kilogram divisions, respectively, in pursuit of more glory.
