The Philippine government chose not to take any action against protesters who allegedly harassed a Palace official during President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.'s visit to Canada last week.
In a video interview, Palace Press Officer Clarissa A. Castro expressed her thoughts on the incident, stating that protesters were free to express their views and decided to ignore the situation.
"We did not file any complaint," Ms. Castro said. She added that while criticism is allowed, it should not include disrespect or hurtful behavior, such as praying for someone to die or constant cursing.
Ms. Castro expressed disappointment over the behavior, noting that it reflects poorly on the Philippines and its people. She suggested that the group might be orchestrated or paid, and that their actions do not represent "true Filipinos."
The Palace Press Officer has not sought updates on potential legal actions or deportations, referring inquiries on Canadian law violations to the Department of Foreign Affairs.
