BBC Radio 1 DJ Greg James attended the high‑profile wedding of pop star Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Friday.
The ceremony drew a crowd of more than 1,000 guests, including musicians, actors and sports figures, and the venue was transformed into a whimsical woodland setting for the event.
The wedding featured a performance by Paul McCartney, was officiated by Adam Sandler, and both bride and groom wore Christian Dior outfits.
James later secured a last‑minute ticket to a Brazil‑vs‑Norway match, skipping his usual breakfast show and posting updates that noted the presence of Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio at the stadium, though he had not attended the wedding.
After the ceremony, James posted a photo of pizza and described a lingering hangover, admitting he could not respond to the volume of messages he had received.
He has interviewed Swift several times, including a 2018 appearance when he jokingly urged her to shower after a performance, and she later confirmed his invitation to the wedding during a radio interview.
DiCaprio was one of the few Hollywood personalities not in attendance at the wedding, although he was seen at the football match in a hospitality box.
Guests described the event as emotional and unforgettable, with the couple sharing 20 minutes of personalized vows and receiving a string rendition of one of Swift’s songs as she walked down the aisle.
Greg’s trip to New York proved to be a memorable weekend, combining a world‑class wedding, a major sporting event and a brief personal break from his broadcasting duties.
