Florida man charged after UK woman hires him for sexual assault

A disturbing case has come to light in Florida, where a 54-year-old man is awaiting trial for the alleged murder of a young woman from the United Kingdom. According to court records, Dwain Hall, a self-described sadist, met Sonia Exelby, 25, on a fetish website in 2023. The two allegedly discussed bondage, suicide, and Exelby's desire to have someone kill her.

Exelby, who had a history of mental health issues, had previously tried to travel to the United States to meet individuals who would kill her violently, but was thwarted by authorities in the UK. Despite this, she continued to pursue her plan, and on October 10, 2025, she flew to Gainesville, Florida, where Hall picked her up at the airport.

Exelby had reserved an Airbnb in Reddick, Florida, and had paid for it in advance. However, it soon became apparent that Hall's intentions were far from pure. Exelby sent a series of disturbing messages to a friend on Discord, describing her situation and expressing her fear and regret.

On October 11, Hall's bank account charged Exelby's debit card seven times within a 10-minute period, allegedly to pay for his roadside assistance business. However, Exelby failed to show up for her return flight on October 13, and her family reported her missing. Investigators later found Exelby's body in a shallow grave in a wooded area of Marion County, with four stab wounds on her body.

Hall was arrested on October 17 and is currently being held in the Marion County Jail on six felony charges, including premeditated, first-degree murder and kidnapping. He could face the death penalty if convicted. The investigation into Exelby's death is ongoing, and authorities are reviewing the disturbing video that Hall recorded of Exelby, in which she is seen being questioned and coerced by Hall.

The case has raised concerns about the dangers of online fetish communities and the ease with which individuals can plan and carry out violent acts. It also highlights the importance of addressing mental health issues and providing support to those who are struggling.

A trial for Hall is scheduled to take place on November 5 in Marion County, Florida. In the meantime, Exelby's family and friends are grieving her loss, and the community is left to grapple with the disturbing details of her final days.
