France has fired its way into another World Cup semi-final appearance, thanks to a stunning performance from captain Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe made amends for a frustrating first half, where he saw a penalty saved by Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, with a breathtaking goal in the 60th minute.
With the score level at 0-0 at halftime, Mbappe's strike proved the turning point, as he took one touch before curling a sublime effort into the top-right corner, leaving Bounou with no chance.
The goal was Mbappe's eighth of the tournament, drawing him level with Lionel Messi in the race for the golden boot.
Just six minutes later, Mbappe set up Ousmane Dembele for the second goal, as France doubled its lead and put itself firmly in control of the quarter-final tie.
Dembélé's precise finish towards the bottom-right corner sealed the deal, despite Bounou's valiant attempt to keep it out.
France has now reached its third consecutive World Cup semi-final, following its World Cup title in 2018 and its heartbreaking final defeat to Argentina in 2022.
The team will face either Spain or Belgium in the semi-finals as it continues its quest for a second World Cup title in three tournaments.
With Mbappe once again delivering on the biggest stage, France looks every bit like a genuine contender to go all the way.
