A suspect in a deadly home invasion in a coastal Connecticut beach town was captured by U.S. Marshals in New York after a two‑month investigation. The arrest brings the investigation a step closer to resolution.
The U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 24‑year‑old Ivan Barias‑Florimon in the Bronx on Tuesday, identifying him as the second suspect in the June 3 shooting death of 69‑year‑old Frederick Raymond Werner. Authorities confirmed his involvement in the violent incident.
Police say Barias‑Florimon and 25‑year‑old Stuar Lopez‑Reyes forced entry into Werner’s home on East Broadway in Milford, Connecticut, and opened fire on the couple. The attackers entered the residence before commencing the shooting.
Werner was killed in the attack, while his wife sustained a head wound and remains hospitalized. Medical officials continue to monitor her condition.
Milford authorities described the attack as a targeted act rather than random violence. The motive behind the assault is still under investigation.
