The popular zombie apocalypse series, The Walking Dead, is set to make its way to Netflix in the UK after a deal was inked with AMC Global Media to secure global rights to the franchise. The streaming service will soon be adding all 371 episodes of the show, as well as six spin-off series that make up The Walking Dead Universe.
The Walking Dead Universe will include The Walking Dead, Fear The Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, The Walking Dead: Dead City, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and Tales Of The Walking Dead. This is a huge addition to Netflix's content, with a total of 371 episodes and six additional series to enjoy.
The Walking Dead follows a group of survivors trying to find safety in a post-apocalyptic world, where a zombie plague has taken over the USA. The series, which ran for 11 seasons from 2011 to 2022, boasted an all-star cast, including Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
This new deal will extend the show's availability on Netflix to new territories, including the UK, Italy, Australia, and New Zealand. Netflix has been the exclusive streaming home of The Walking Dead in the US since 2011, and the company is confident that audiences will continue to love the show.
"Audiences have discovered and loved The Walking Dead on Netflix for nearly 15 years, and the show continues to attract new fans," said Netflix's vice president of licensing Lori Conkling. "We're excited to partner with AMC Global Media to continue to expand that access to more audiences around the world and bring the entirety of The Walking Dead Universe to Netflix."
