Jack Tweed, the widower of late television personality Jade Goody, has been charged with a drug‑driving offence following his arrest in December.
Police stopped Tweed on Three Mile Hill in Chelmsford and determined that his blood contained a concentration of delta‑9‑tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) more than three times the legal limit.
The charge relates to driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the prescribed threshold. Laboratory analysis recorded 5.6 micrograms of THC per litre of blood, exceeding the limit of two micrograms.
Tweed is scheduled to appear before Chelmsford magistrates’ court on Monday to answer the charge.
The 39‑year‑old married Goody one month before her death from cervical cancer at age 27. Since her passing, he has regularly posted tributes and participated in fundraising for cancer charities.
Tweed and Goody began dating in 2006, shared a stint on a reality television series the following year, and wed in 2009 at Down Hall country house near Hatfield Heath. Through the marriage he became stepfather to Goody’s two sons, Bobby and Freddie, and has re‑established a relationship with them in recent years.
A spokesperson for Tweed declined to comment on the pending case.
