Manchester United has reportedly renewed its interest in signing young talent Myles Lewis-Skelly from Arsenal.
The Premier League champions have previously shown long-standing interest in the England international, who has made 75 appearances for his boyhood club and earned six caps for his country.
Lewis-Skelly emerged as a key player for Arsenal during the 2024-25 season, contributing to their second-place finish in the league and a deep run in the Champions League. His performances earned him a nomination for the PFA Young Player of the Year award and a new long-term contract.
Despite expectations of a more prominent role last season, the 19-year-old experienced limited game time initially, serving as a backup. However, he demonstrated his value significantly in the latter half of the season.
His strong performances were instrumental in Arsenal securing their first Premier League title since 2004 and reaching the Champions League final. He notably became the second-youngest English player to start a Champions League final, though his team ultimately lost to PSG in a penalty shootout.
While his late-season form seemed to quell speculation about his future, reports indicate that Manchester United is now exploring the possibility of a summer transfer. The club is assessing Arsenal's willingness to part with the player.
Arsenal currently prefers to retain Lewis-Skelly, but this stance could shift if the club successfully acquires midfielder Bruno Guimaraes and winger Vinicius Junior. Such arrivals might prompt Arsenal to trim their squad.
Although Lewis-Skelly impressed towards the end of the 2025-26 season, he was not included in the England squad for the recent World Cup. Manager Mikel Arteta has acknowledged being particularly demanding of the young player.
Arteta previously commented on Lewis-Skelly's development, stating he deserved his opportunities and that he had been "tough" on him. He admitted to potential misjudgments regarding the player's early-season game time.
The Arsenal manager explained his decision-making process for fielding Lewis-Skelly, particularly in a new midfield role. He emphasized the importance of player readiness, team dynamics, and tactical considerations for selecting him.
Arsenal has already seen departures this summer, with Leandro Trossard and Jakub Kiwior being sold. Further player movements are possible, with Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, and Christian Norgaard potentially being moved on.
Manchester United has been active in the transfer market, securing deals for Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, and Karl Darlow. The club is also reportedly working on a transfer for Lewis Hall.
