Mbeumo’s brace secures United’s 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid

In a pre‑season friendly held in Stockholm, Manchester United secured a 2‑1 win over Atletico Madrid, drawing a crowd of 25,000 spectators.

The match began with Atletico taking the lead. A short corner from Arnau Ortiz produced a tempting cross that found its way through a congested penalty area and into the far corner, giving the Spanish side the early advantage.

Manchester United responded quickly, with Jan Oblak making a crucial save to deny Luke Shaw’s powerful volley. Subsequent attempts from Leny Yoro and Bryan Mbeumo failed to convert, as United struggled to find the back of the net in the first half.

After the break, the Red Devils gained momentum. A foul by Jorge Castillo on Shea Lacey inside the box earned a penalty, which Bryan Mbeumo converted, levelising the score.

Twenty minutes later, Mbeumo extended the lead by finishing a cross from Jack Fletcher, putting Manchester United ahead.

Atletico pushed for a late comeback, with Morten Hjulmand’s shot striking the post. United maintained composure to secure the victory and close out the friendly with confidence.
