A shooting in North York on Friday night has resulted in one fatality and two others being hospitalized with serious injuries. The incident occurred in the Jane St. and Sheppard Ave. W. area, where police were called to the scene shortly after 11 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found one victim who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two additional victims were discovered with gunshot wounds and were transported to the hospital, where they are being treated for serious injuries. The police investigation is ongoing, and an update is expected to be provided on Saturday afternoon. This incident marks the city's 18th homicide of the year and is the second fatal shooting to occur this week. On Monday, a man was found with a gunshot wound in the Victoria Park Ave. and Hwy. 401 area, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was later identified as 32-year-old Levon Byers of Toronto.
In connection with the Monday shooting, 28-year-old Hakim El Mozazi of Toronto has been charged with second-degree murder and four firearm offences. The police are continuing to investigate both incidents and are seeking any information that may aid in their inquiries.
