An unidentified man was rescued by Toronto Fire Service crews on Tuesday morning after becoming trapped on the Scarborough Bluffs.
Fire Commander John Davidson said it remains unclear why the man was in that location, though he may have fallen over the edge.
Fire crews were dispatched at approximately 8 a.m. following a 911 call from a passerby who heard the man calling for help.
Investigators believe the individual may have been stuck for roughly 24 hours before being discovered.
Davidson highlighted that the timely response of the passerby was crucial to the successful rescue.
Rescuers employed a ladder insertion rather than the usual rope system to extract the man from the bluff.
After removal, the marine unit transferred him to a dock where Toronto Paramedic Services assumed care.
The victim sustained minor injuries and was dehydrated due to prolonged exposure to the elements.
Fire officials urge visitors to remain on designated trails and avoid fenced‑off areas of the Bluffs.
Davidson noted the Bluffs have long attracted adventurers, but safety must be prioritized to prevent similar incidents.
