Perez Hilton has been taken to hospital after appearing to harm himself on a TikTok livestream, prompting worried viewers to alert emergency services.
Deputies from the Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Office were called to Hilton's Florida home on Tuesday after people watching the livestream feared he had harmed himself.
According to authorities, officers found the 48-year-old celebrity blogger alone inside the property when they arrived.
The Sheriff's Office said it 'received multiple calls regarding an individual who was livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media.'
'Deputies quickly located the individual's residence, where they spoke with family members on scene, he was alone inside,' the office explained.
'In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritise de-escalation by creating time, distance and opportunities for communication.'
The Sheriff added that its crisis response unit and licensed mental health professionals were dispatched to the scene and they have provided support for Hilton's family.
The office also stated that Hilton was 'safely recovered' and transported to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention.
After the livestream ended, graphic clips that appeared to show Hilton covered in blood began to circulate on social media.
Multiple social media users commented during the livestream, which was later taken down, urging Hilton to stop as he appeared to self-harm.
This comes just months after Hilton suffered a string of serious health problems, including being hospitalised with severe sepsis and developing a deep vein thrombosis.
Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira Jr, rose to fame in the 2000s with his celebrity gossip website and has remained a well-known online personality for over two decades.
