TikTok‑famous takeaway restaurant destroyed by fire after reopening

TikTok‑famous takeaway restaurant destroyed by fire after reopening

The Lebanese Grill Express takeaway in Clerkenwell, a spot that gained popularity on TikTok for its shawarma, was destroyed by fire a day after it reopened following a court‑ordered closure.

The blaze erupted early on Thursday, devastating the takeaway, a loft extension, and the building’s roof while also damaging portions of the first and second floors.

Seven residents inside the building escaped unharmed, and neighboring properties were evacuated by the London Fire Brigade.

The emergency response peaked at 80 firefighters, including two 32‑metre turntable ladders, and took three hours to bring the fire under control.

Prior complaints from residents about noise, litter, and antisocial behaviour led to a temporary closure under the Anti‑Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
