Toronto Police have charged a man and a woman in connection with a human trafficking investigation, with multiple victims believed to be impacted.
According to allegations, the accused trafficked a 27-year-old victim in March, using a combination of deception, coercion, and control to exploit them for financial gain. The victim was taken to different locations to meet clients to perform sexual services, with the accused keeping the money earned.
On Thursday, investigators executed a search warrant in Toronto, where 30-year-old Nygel Wright was arrested and charged with 12 offences, including eight trafficking-related charges and two firearm-related charges.
Separately, a search warrant was also executed in Ajax, where 34-year-old Kristin Hendren was arrested and charged with five trafficking-related offences.

Meanwhile, Durham Regional Police have charged four individuals in connection with a drugs and weapons probe, which wrapped up on Friday.
Cops were investigating a male suspect in possession of a firearm and involved in drug trafficking, and subsequently arrested two individuals in a vehicle in Ajax. Further investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at a Pickering residence, where a second female was taken into custody.
Police seized over 3 kg of suspected fentanyl, as well as a loaded firearm and a replica Uzi firearm. A fourth suspect turned themselves in on Sunday, and all four individuals are facing charges related to fentanyl trafficking and firearms possession.
The Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (R.O.P.E.) Squad is seeking the public's help in locating a federal offender wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.
Evan Haney, 29, is described as Indigenous, 5-foot-10, 190 pounds, with a fair complexion, brown hair, and hazel eyes. He is known to wear brown-rimmed glasses and has numerous tattoos, and is believed to frequent the Kitchener and Midland areas.
Haney is currently serving a two-year and three-month sentence for nine offences, including break-and-enter and assault with a weapon. Hamilton Police have released hate-crime statistics for 2025, showing a 12% increase in hate/bias incidents and 332 criminal offences.
The majority of occurrences were racially motivated, followed by incidents involving religion and sexual orientation. Police said that the Black, Jewish, and 2S&LGBTQIA+ communities were most frequently impacted.
Hamilton Police Chief Frank Bergen emphasized the importance of reporting hate crimes and supporting those affected, stating, "By reporting these incidents, supporting those affected and working together, we can build a safer, more inclusive Hamilton where hate is not tolerated."
A Durham Regional Police officer has been charged with stunt driving after allegedly fleeing from police in Oshawa.
According to police, 21-year-old Israel Barnes was stopped in the Coldstream Dr.-Ritson Rd. area after operating an Acura sedan in an unsafe manner. Barnes allegedly failed to stop, fled from police, lost control, and struck two unoccupied parked vehicles before being taken into custody.
Barnes is charged with dangerous operation, stunt driving, flight from peace officer, disobey stop sign, and driving with an improper licence.
Durham police are investigating a head-on vehicle collision in Whitby that left two people with serious injuries.
According to police, a Hyundai SUV and a Mitsubishi SUV collided in the area of Lake Ridge Rd. and Hwy. 407, with the 24-year-old driver of the Hyundai SUV suffering life-threatening injuries.
A 77-year-old passenger in the Dodge minivan suffered critical but non-life-threatening injuries, while the 69-year-old driver of the Dodge minivan suffered minor injuries.

Hamilton Police charged eight drivers with impaired driving-related offences over the weekend.
The incidents occurred across the city, including traffic stops, motor-vehicle collisions, and reports from concerned members of the public. In one incident, a driver was located after their vehicle ended up in a ditch, and in another, a driver failed to stop at an intersection, causing a collision that sent another motorist to hospital with minor injuries.
