A powerful magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck off the coast of Mexico, near the Guatemala border, on Friday morning.
The quake was centered near Puerto Madero, Mexico, approximately 40 miles from the major port city, and prompted a tsunami warning.
Shaking was felt in Guatemala and El Salvador, and videos posted on social media showed the moment the temblor struck.
Buildings swayed violently across Mexico, and residents evacuated moments after the quake struck.
No damage or injuries were immediately reported, but the powerful tremor was felt across parts of Central America.
The quake was felt very weakly or slightly in Mexico City, with buildings swaying across the country.
It was the second significant earthquake to hit the region in recent weeks, following a magnitude 7.2 quake off northern Japan last month.
