Arsenal fans have welcomed new signing Christos Tzolis with open arms after his impressive debut performance in the 4-1 win over Girona.
The 24-year-old Greece international joined the Premier League champions on a five-year deal, reportedly worth £34 million, following a stellar two-year spell in Belgian football, where he racked up 21 goals and 28 assists in 45 appearances.
Tzolis made his mark for Arsenal in the 30th minute, netting his first-ever goal for the club to double their advantage and secure a comprehensive win in Spain.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was thrilled with the left winger's performance, praising his ability to adapt to the team and generate connections with his new teammates.
"He's a very direct player," Arteta said. "He's got the ball between the eyes. He's got a lot of similarities with Leo in a lot of the things that he can do and the spaces he can occupy."
Team-mate Kai Havertz also sang Tzolis' praises, claiming his quality was evident from the first minute of the match.
Tzolis' impressive performance has left a lasting impression on his new teammates, with defender Ben White stating, "Christos has been amazing. He came in, did all the testing, and beat everyone."
The Greek midfielder will look to build on his impressive debut as Arsenal continue their pre-season schedule with a friendly against Real Betis in Dublin, before returning home to the Emirates for a double-header against Borussia Dortmund and Como.
The north London giants begin their Premier League defence against newly promoted Coventry City on August 21.
