A 38-year-old woman has been charged with murder in the death of a 43-year-old man whose body was discovered in a shallow grave on a Freeport property in Florida's Panhandle. Authorities say she is actively evading capture and may be using multiple aliases.
The victim was last seen on May 24 leaving the College Condominiums. Investigators followed leads that led to the recovery of his remains on June 25 at the Freeport location.
Local police expressed deep concern for the community and pledged to work closely with partners to resolve the case. Officials affirmed their support for the victim’s family.
A warrant has been issued for the suspect’s arrest, though her relationship to the victim has not been disclosed. Law enforcement continues to seek her whereabouts.
Investigators believe the woman is using several false identities, including Harley, Jessica Elaine Bowman, Jessica Elaine Thrush, and Jessica Dowdy.
Three additional individuals have been arrested in connection with the homicide. A 74‑year‑old man and a 59‑year‑old woman from Santa Rosa Beach face charges of accessory after the fact and obstruction.
The man is accused of knowingly assisting the suspect in evading authorities between June 25 and June 30. The woman admitted to providing transportation, supplies, and misleading officials about the suspect’s location.
The county sheriff warned that anyone who shelters, hides, or lies for the suspect will face criminal charges, emphasizing the seriousness of the homicide investigation.
Surveillance footage released by authorities shows the suspect inside a business days after the victim’s remains were found. Officials note she may have altered her appearance since the video was captured.
