The ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran has escalated with yet another attack on a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway for global oil trade.
The UK maritime security agency reported that a tanker was struck by a missile while heading through the Strait of Hormuz near the coast of Oman, marking the third straight day of attacks by the United States.
India has condemned Iranian attacks on two commercial ships near the Strait of Hormuz, which killed an Indian national and injured 10 others.
India's Ministry of External Affairs released a statement condemning the attacks and calling for free and safe navigation through international waterways like the Strait of Hormuz.
The MT Al Bahiyah and MT Mombasa vessels were attacked during their transit through the strait, the ministry said, adding that an Iranian diplomat in New Delhi was summoned to hear a "strong protest" over the incident.
A Dutch shipping firm, Stolt Tankers, also reported that one of its tankers came under attack off Oman in the Arabian Sea.
All mariners aboard the Stolt Magnesium vessel were safe and accounted for after the attack, which sparked a fire in the ship's engine room.
Bahrain stated that its military successfully intercepted and destroyed several Iranian drones and missiles, warning people not to approach the remains of downed drones and missiles.
The General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force warned that its "weapons and units are at the highest levels of readiness" in response to Iran's continued attacks.
