Micro Center lists $4,000 AMD AI mini PC, currently out of stock

Mini PCs are experiencing rapid growth in the personal computer market, attracting interest from both consumers and enterprise users seeking compact performance solutions.

AMD has introduced a new mini desktop that integrates its Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor, a 16‑core chip paired with 128 GB of unified LPDDR5X memory and a 2 TB solid‑state drive, all within a $4,000 price point.

The system is designed primarily for running local large language models, offering developers a way to reduce reliance on external AI services and associated token costs.

AMD claims the device delivers superior token‑per‑second rates on select AI benchmarks, positioning it as a x86‑based counterpart to Nvidia’s AI‑focused DGX line.

While the hardware can support PC gaming, the high cost of the specialized memory makes it less competitive than conventional gaming desktops or laptops that achieve comparable frame rates at lower prices.

Despite promotional announcements, the mini PC is not yet listed for purchase at major retail outlets, and consumers may consider alternative AI‑focused mini PCs with similar specifications that are currently available.
