Senate Republicans Urged to Abolish Filibuster to Pass SAVE America Act Amid Fears Democrats May Act First

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan has delivered a strong message to Senate Republicans, urging them to take decisive action and eliminate the filibuster to pass the SAVE America Act.

Jordan warned that Democrats will not hesitate to scrap the filibuster if they regain power, making it essential for Republicans to act now to secure election integrity measures before the 2026 midterms.

Speaking to a prominent news program, Jordan discussed President Trump's push for the GOP to prioritize the SAVE America Act, a key election integrity bill that would require proof of citizenship for voter registration and implement other safeguards against fraud.

The legislation passed the House but has stalled in the Senate, prompting Jordan to criticize colleagues who refuse to consider ending the filibuster.

“It looks like Republican senators who will not vote to ever get rid of the filibuster. I think we know what's going to happen!” Jordan stated, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

Jordan followed up by pointing out the likely outcome if Democrats take control, stating that they will use the filibuster to their advantage if they regain power.

“If Democrats ever get control, they're going to do it,” Jordan said, underscoring the importance of Republicans acting now to secure election integrity measures.

The SAVE America Act has become a top priority for conservatives, including President Trump, who has repeatedly urged Senate Republicans to pass it and address vulnerabilities in voter registration and ballot processes.

With the Senate set to return to session soon, Republicans face a narrowing window to enact the legislation in time for it to impact the 2026 midterms, with a deadline of August 8 less than one month from now.
