Megaworld partners with ViaBus for AI township solutions

Megaworld Corp. has partnered with a Thailand-based mobility technology startup to launch an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered real-time transit tracking application for its Citylink shuttle service.

The application, developed in partnership with Via Group (Thailand) Co., Ltd., initially allows commuters to monitor vehicle locations, estimated arrival times, and route information across seven Citylink shuttle routes serving Newport City in Pasay City, and McKinley Hill, McKinley West, and Uptown Bonifacio in Taguig City.

As part of its long-term strategy to integrate digital innovation with sustainable transportation, Megaworld plans to expand the platform to Eastwood City in Quezon City, Southwoods City in Biñan, Laguna, and Boracay Newcoast in Aklan, aiming to transform its Metro Manila Citylink fleet into a fully electric shuttle network.

By integrating electric vehicle shuttle buses with the ViaBus platform, Megaworld expects to encourage greater use of shared transportation, reduce reliance on private vehicles, ease traffic movement, and help lower carbon emissions across its townships.

Megaworld estate management head Don Earl Caagbay emphasized the importance of promoting efficient and sustainable mobility, stating that the initiative demonstrates how digital innovation can make everyday mobility more convenient and reliable.

ViaBus enables passengers to view the real-time location of the free Citylink shuttle buses, estimated arrival times, and route guidance through a mobile application, allowing commuters to better plan their trips within Megaworld’s townships.

Via Group Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder Intouch Marsvongpragorn noted that the platform was designed to address uncertainty in public transportation, providing reliable information in real-time to make journeys easier and more convenient.

With its real-time transit platform currently operating in Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines, serving more than 10 million users, Via Group aims to expand its collaboration with Megaworld and shape the future of mobility together.
