The Brevard County Sheriff's Office booked a 44-year-old Georgia man on two counts of child abuse after he allegedly attacked two children playing tag aboard a Carnival cruise ship.
David Lawrence Crosby II, of Surrency, Georgia, was arrested on July 27 and is accused of hitting one child in the face, causing a bloody lip and head pain, and striking a second child in the stomach, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The incident reportedly occurred on July 26 when Crosby, allegedly heavily intoxicated, encountered a group of children playing tag in a hallway on the Carnival Glory cruise ship, which typically sails out of Port Canaveral in Florida to the Bahamas.
Security camera footage of the incident was reviewed by officials, and Crosby was subsequently confined to his cabin for the remainder of the voyage.
When arrested, Crosby told officers that he did not remember hitting the children and was heavily intoxicated at the time of the incident.
Carnival Cruise Line responded promptly to the incident, confining Crosby to his cabin and referring him to local law enforcement upon arrival in Port Canaveral.
The company also assessed a code of conduct violation fee and placed Crosby on its Do Not Sail list due to the severity of his actions.
Crosby was released from jail on Tuesday after posting a $20,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on August 25 to plead not guilty to the charges.
