A hit‑and‑run in Salisbury, North Carolina, on Saturday night left three people dead. The driver was identified as Javiel Pena Sola, a national of El Salvador.
Sola struck a vehicle and fled the scene. Two victims were pronounced dead at the crash site, while a third was airlifted to a hospital for treatment.
He has a record of prior convictions, including reckless endangerment, failure to stop after an accident, driving without a license, and an arrest for escaping from custody. A court order has placed him under removal proceedings.

After the crash, a police K‑9 located Sola, who was then arrested and charged with three felony counts of hit‑and‑run involving serious injury or death.
The names of the victims have not been released. Sola is currently held by state authorities while federal immigration agencies have requested his transfer for further processing.
