Lilly Anne Jones, 14, was discovered in a woodland area near a bowls club on the night of June 22, suffering serious injuries to her chest and neck.
Emergency services responded and pronounced her dead at 10:45 pm. The scene was secured and a post‑mortem examination was conducted by Dr Richard Jones.
The senior coroner, Caroline Saunders, released a provisional cause of death indicating multiple stab wounds to the neck and trunk. The matter will be adjourned for further inquiry.
A provisional inquest has been scheduled for April 6, 2027.
Jones was last seen at approximately 6:50 pm on June 20 in High Street, Blaina. After her body was found, parts of Pilgrims Park adjacent to the A467 were cordoned off.
Public members left floral tributes near the discovery site in Duffryn Park.
A 14‑year‑old boy from the Blaenau Gwent area was charged with her murder. He appeared in court on June 29 and has not entered a plea.
Judge Tracey Lloyd‑Clarke set the trial to commence on November 23, with a projected duration of four weeks.
The accused has been remanded into custody pending the trial.
The case remains under investigation as authorities seek additional evidence.
