The Bureau of Customs announced it is on track to surpass its July collection target by at least two billion pesos, based on current daily averages and three days remaining in the month. This positions the bureau well ahead of its monthly goal.
Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno noted an excess of nearly two billion pesos and a requirement to collect ten billion pesos over the final three days, citing daily averages between 3.8 and 4.2 billion pesos.
Maintaining the surplus would bring July collections to approximately 84 billion pesos, exceeding the 82 billion peso target.
The commissioner attributed the strong performance to stricter assessments, explaining that even with a reduced volume, collection levels rose.
The agency is also working to accelerate the sale of roughly 200 seized vehicles, valued at about 500 million pesos, with a schedule of biweekly sales.
Since the beginning of the year, proceeds from seized vehicle sales have totaled 340 million pesos.
Officials are pursuing a joint administrative order to address port congestion and regulate cargo handling charges, which, once signed by relevant ministries, will enable the Bureau to coordinate nationwide efforts.
