Two individuals now face multiple charges after law enforcement conducted a search in Scarborough and reportedly seized a handgun, ammunition, and illicit drugs. The incident occurred late Tuesday near Birchmount Road and St. Clair Avenue East.
Authorities executed a search warrant at approximately 11 p.m., during which they allegedly recovered an illegal firearm, an extended magazine, and ammunition. Additional items taken into custody included substances classified as Schedule I controlled drugs and a combined sum of Canadian and U.S. currency.
Ryan McQuinn, 34, of Toronto, is facing a total of 17 charges. These include three counts of uttering threats, three counts of criminal harassment, and three counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for trafficking. Additional charges involve unauthorized possession of prohibited weapons, unsafe handling of firearms, and possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000.
Reka Balogh, 22, of Toronto, is charged with nine counts, including three for trafficking Schedule I substances and multiple counts of possession of restricted weapons or devices. Her charges also include allegations of careless storage of firearms and unauthorized possession of prohibited items, alongside one count of proceeds of crime under $5,000.
Both individuals were scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday. Officials have requested public assistance, urging anyone with relevant information to contact law enforcement directly or through anonymous reporting channels.
