A 29‑year‑old man died at a hospital after being struck by a pickup truck during the Veld Music Festival in Downsview Park.
The collision occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Friday in the parking lot near the Sheppard Ave. W. – Tuscan Gate entrance of North York, where the victim was lying on the grass before the vehicle hit him.
The driver of a 2024 black Dodge Ram, aged 57, remained at the scene. Police are investigating the incident as a private‑property fatal collision and are asking anyone with security or dashcam footage to contact investigators.
Responding officers arrived after hearing gunshots near an apartment complex on King Street. The victim, named Tryce James, was transported to a hospital with gunshot wounds and later pronounced dead, a homicide that investigators say appears to be an isolated event.
