In December 2022, a seven‑month‑old baby named Emmanuela lost her life when her father, Emmanuel Sakyi, drove while intoxicated and collided with another vehicle on Bletcham Way in Milton Kingdom.
Sakyi was later convicted of causing the child’s death and received a 15‑year prison sentence. Despite the verdict, he remains at large, prompting a continued search by law enforcement.
A 40‑year‑old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting Sakyi. She was released under investigation while authorities continue to pursue the case.
The crash involved Sakyi’s grey Peugeot 508 traveling on the wrong side of the road before striking a green Fiat 500. He fled the scene after the impact, leaving investigators to reconstruct the collision.
Investigators noted that Sakyi failed to secure Emmanuela in a child seat, instead allowing her to sit in the front passenger seat. The mother, Ruth Oppong, was later sentenced to a suspended term for aiding and abetting the fatal incident.
Police released footage of the collision reconstruction and images of the vehicle damage to highlight the severe consequences of reckless driving.
Officials urge anyone with information about Sakyi’s whereabouts to contact authorities and advise the public not to approach him. If he is sighted, emergency services should be called immediately.
Police are seeking community assistance to ensure justice is served and to locate the individual responsible for the tragedy.
