Savannah Guthrie urges support for mother Nancy, six months later

Savannah Guthrie, co‑host of a national morning program, posted a personal appeal on Instagram marking six months since her mother, Nancy Guthrie, vanished.

She described the family’s relentless grief and asked anyone with information to come forward, even anonymously, noting that a reward is available. Guthrie emphasized that the plea is driven by a need for answers and a proper farewell for her mother. The message underscored the urgency of locating the missing woman.

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen outside her home in the Catalina Hills area near Tucson on January 31. A doorbell camera recorded a masked intruder disabling the cameras at approximately 1:47 a.m. on February 1.

At 2:28 a.m., her pacemaker lost its Bluetooth connection to her cell phone, suggesting a possible interruption of her medical monitoring. The loss of connectivity added a critical health concern to the ongoing investigation.

Authorities released two ransom notes on February 2 and February 6, demanding $4 million in Bitcoin and threatening the victim’s life. The notes stipulated a deadline for payment and warned of lethal consequences if the demands were not met.

The ransom communications included details not previously public, such as the exact location of Nancy Guthrie’s Apple Watch and a smashed floodlight in the backyard. This insider knowledge indicated that the author had direct access to the crime scene.

One of the notes declared that Nancy Guthrie had “perished,” heightening the seriousness of the threats. Law enforcement has treated the claim as a potential escalation and is pursuing all leads.

Investigators continue to appeal for tips, emphasizing that any piece of information could be pivotal. They are reviewing the linguistic style of the notes to identify potential suspects.

Guthrie concluded her appeal by thanking supporters for prayers and kindness, while urging the public to focus on compassion rather than speculation. She reaffirmed the family’s determination to seek answers and bring her mother home.
