The Philippines’ Strong Group Athletics finished as runners‑up at the recently concluded Formosa Women’s Volleyball Invitational Tournament held at Xinzhuang Gymnasium in Chinese Taipei.
The squad, composed of leading players from Farm Fresh and ZUS Coffee, advanced to the championship match after a strong showing in the preliminary round.
During the group stage, the Filipinas split two matches, losing a four‑set game to Thailand’s Supreme Tip Chonburi‑E.Tech and defeating China’s Earthpower EPV. The results left all three teams tied, but a superior set ratio earned SGA a spot in the final.
The final pitted the Filipinas against Japan’s Aleeza Aichi. The Japanese side dominated, winning in straight sets 25‑17, 25‑19, and 25‑15.
Although the loss left SGA with a silver medal, the tournament showcased the increasing competitiveness of Philippine women's volleyball on the international stage.
