A high-profile deportation case has unfolded in the United States, with the State Department revoking the lawful permanent resident status of a Kuwaiti national due to his expressed anti-American views and support for terrorist organizations.
Tareq Alkhudari, who entered the country in 2014 to study at San Jose State University, received a green card in 2024, but is now in federal custody. Secretary of State Marco Rubio terminated Alkhudari's legal status, citing the individual's social media posts that denigrate the United States and express support for Hamas.
Alkhudari's online presence is replete with anti-American rhetoric, with one graphic stating that "the enemy remains Isntreal and Amerika." He also mocked a woman who supported the U.S. and Palestine, writing that she would be surprised to learn he watches documentaries about white-on-white crimes.
In another post, Alkhudari wrote that even if Iran launched a missile that killed him, it would be the fault of America and Israel. He also posted a photo of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Donald Trump, expressing hope that they would perish in a catastrophic event.
The State Department has maintained that foreign nationals who denigrate the United States and express support for terrorist organizations should expect to be deported. A spokesperson stated that "foreign nationals who echo propaganda from foreign adversaries while residing in the United States should expect to find themselves on a deportation flight. They must return home."
Alkhudari's online presence also reveals a deep-seated hatred for Americans, even those who share his political causes. He wrote that it is "fruitless labor" to try to explain sectarianism to Americans who do not understand the complexities of the issue.
The State Department's decision to revoke Alkhudari's status has been met with support from some quarters, with a spokesperson stating that "the Trump administration will never allow foreigners who denigrate our great nation to abuse the hospitality of the United States and remain on American soil.
