The search is underway for the owner of a cat left behind on a TTC streetcar. It is unclear if the animal was abandoned or accidentally left behind, but the rider who found the feline is hoping for a happy ending.
A post on a popular online forum detailed the incident, with a rider describing how they came across the cat on a streetcar. The rider explained that they asked the other passengers if anyone knew the cat's owner, but no one claimed her.
According to the post, a fellow passenger had seen someone on the streetcar with a wagon or cart containing two animal carriers, one of which was empty. However, the pet owner had already gotten off the streetcar, and the cat was only discovered a few stops later.
The rider who found the cat wrote that they had initially thought the cat might have been left on purpose, but they were choosing to assume it was an accident. They added that they had shared photos of the cat and had reached out to the TTC and Toronto pet rescue accounts to get word out.
The cat has since been taken to a vet, where it was discovered that it does not have a microchip. Despite this, the rider remains hopeful that the cat's owner will be found and is in contact with the TTC's lost and found department.
The search for the cat's owner continues, and the rider who found her is urging anyone with information to come forward.
