California man arrested over bomb threat to judge

A California man was arrested after allegedly sending violent threats to the mother of a friend of a missing 18‑year‑old. The missing teen, Nolan Wells, disappeared July 4 after a boat trip to Horn Island, Mississippi. His remains were found July 6.

Joseph Alfredo Vasquez Dumarce, 27, was charged with interstate transmission of a threatening communication. The indictment claims he sent multiple threats via Facebook Messenger to Judge Ashlee Cole, including a bomb threat. He also called office numbers at 1:27 a.m. on July 11.

The threats included statements about a package that would explode and references to blood and a timer. Dumarce was identified through the email linked to his Facebook account. The charge carries a maximum five‑year sentence and a fine up to $250,000.

The target of the threats was the mother of Warren Hudson, who was with Wells on the day he disappeared. Hudson has not been accused of any wrongdoing. Records indicate Wells chose to remain on Horn Island rather than return to the coast with Hudson.

Wells was a wide receiver at Southwest Mississippi Community College and had aspirations to play Division I football. An attorney for his family revealed at a news conference that a red discoloration was found on Wells' head, but an independent autopsy could not determine cause or manner of death. Official autopsy results have not yet been released.

The investigation continues as authorities seek to determine the circumstances of Wells' death. Officials have not released further details at this time.
