Charli XCX Trades Barbs with Children's Brand Peppa Pig Amid Heated Public Dispute

Charli XCX Trades Barbs with Children's Brand Peppa Pig Amid Heated Public Dispute

In a shocking celebrity feud, British singer-songwriter Charli XCX has come to the defense of her friend Clairo, after the children's TV icon Peppa Pig seemingly shaded the rising star.

During an appearance on Pitchfork's Over/Under game, Peppa Pig, 4, channelled her inner Mariah Carey, rating other musicians, including PinkPantheress and The Beatles. However, when it came to Clairo, 27, she declared, 'I don't know her.'

The comment is likely a nod to Mariah, who in an interview said she 'didn't know' Jennifer Lopez. Peppa's seemingly shady side-eye to the camera sparked a reaction from Charli, 33, who texted Clairo to say 'let's fk her up', sharing a screenshot of a viral post about the shade.

Charli then posted her friend's message, causing fans to rally around Clairo, with many commenting pictures of frying bacon. 'Peppa Pig should focus on promoting her music career rather than coming for Clairo,' said one fan account, showing off the pair's Spotify numbers.

PinkPantheress, who Peppa had praised, also commented: 'ain't shit sweet until you put respect on clairo. Fans joked that the American singer-songwriter needed to quickly promote something while the internet's attention was on her, to which she replied that she 'didn't have anything yet.'

Clairo's last album, Charm, came out in 2024 and she wrapped up the tour just last year, concluding in Manchester on March 20, 2025. The record was nominated for best alternative music album at the Grammys, losing out to St. Vincent's All Born Screaming.

Meanwhile, Charli hasn't said anything about the beef – or should that be bacon – and is instead promoting her new album. She dropped the track list for Music, Fashion, Film, ahead of the record's release on July 24. There's no obvious Peppa shade in the titles, but maybe track five 'I'm afraid' could be a nod to the TV titan.
