TV chef Tim Bilton has provided an update on his stage 4 cancer diagnosis, sharing the emotional news that his cancer is now dormant, a result of 13 years of battling the disease.
Bilton, who has appeared on BBC's Great British Menu and Channel 5's On the Farm, was diagnosed with a rare type of melanoma in 2013 after his wife spotted an unusual shadow in his eye.
At the time, Bilton was preparing to open his second restaurant and aiming for a Michelin star, but the disease had other plans.
13 years on, Bilton has shared in an emotional social media post that his cancer is now dormant, thanking his oncologist and supporters, including his wife Adele, and sons Henry and Charlie.
In his post, Bilton described the past 13 years as being "utter rubbish" and said that his body has been "to hell and back," but expressed gratitude for being able to see his boys grow and for the lessons he has learned from his battle with cancer.
Bilton also acknowledged the impact cancer has had on his life, saying "I don't look the same, I don't talk the same, I can't eat the things I used to love," but emphasized that cancer has made him a better man.
The news of Bilton's cancer being dormant has sparked a wave of support from fans and friends, including Helen Skelton, who worked with him on On The Farm.
As Bilton looks to the future, he is likely to face a new set of challenges, but for now, he can take comfort in the knowledge that his cancer is in remission.
