The Philippine Department of Justice (DoJ) recently announced that it has successfully returned P841.38 million to the National Treasury, which was recovered from individuals connected to the ongoing flood control investigation.
The returned funds were deposited through the Land Bank of the Philippines.
In a statement, the DoJ emphasized that its mission remains unchanged: to recover any public funds tied to the detected anomalies and continue its work in safeguarding taxpayers' money.
The department also mentioned that it will collaborate with the Office of the Ombudsman while respecting the latter's constitutional mandate regarding the investigation.
"We respectfully acknowledge the constitutional role of the Office of the Ombudsman, while ensuring that cases under their jurisdiction will be handled according to the standards required for court proceedings," said the DoJ.

Marcos, Jr. highlighted during his fifth State of the Nation Address on Monday that the investigation into the alleged anomalies in the government's flood control initiative will continue, ensuring that those accountable will be held responsible.

The recovery of the P841.38 million from individuals linked to the ongoing flood control investigation was done through the Land Bank of the Philippines.

"We respectfully acknowledge the constitutional responsibilities of the Office of the Ombudsman while ensuring that cases within their jurisdiction will be handled according to the standards required for court proceedings," said the Department of Justice.
