Paul Pelosi, husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was formally charged Friday with a misdemeanor hit-and-run following an incident earlier this month.
The Napa County District Attorney filed the charges against the 86-year-old, which include a misdemeanor hit-and-run count and an infraction for unsafe turning movement tied to a July 3 collision.
The criminal complaint alleges Pelosi damaged a parked Tesla before leaving the scene without attempting to identify the vehicle's owner or provide required information under California law.
Deputies located Pelosi roughly half a mile from the scene, where he told officers he had intended to return to the location.
Prosecutors allege Pelosi made an unsafe turning movement before striking the parked vehicle, causing property damage that formed the basis for both the misdemeanor and infraction charges.
