Toronto Officer Marc Pinizzotto Honored on June 24

Constable Marc Pinizzotto, a 43‑year‑old officer with 18 years of service, was killed in the line of duty on June 11 after being shot during the execution of a search warrant at an apartment building near Trethewey Drive and Black Creek Drive.

The shooting occurred during an operation linked to the investigation of the March 10 attack on the U.S. Consulate on University Avenue and other shootings across the Greater Toronto Area. Pinizzotto is survived by his wife, Andrea, and their two children, Daniella and Dominic.

Funeral arrangements have been finalized in partnership with the family. A service will be held at 1 p.m. at the Toronto Congress Centre, North Building. The ceremony is not open to the general public but will include family, close community members, police services from across Canada, and emergency personnel.

Members of the public may observe the funeral procession, which will travel from Kane‑Jerrett Funeral Home to the Toronto Congress Centre. Private visitations for family, friends, and colleagues will take place in the days leading up to the funeral and will not be open to the public or media.

The police service expressed gratitude for the community’s support and condolences. Pinizzotto’s death came shortly after an Ontario Provincial Police constable was struck and killed by a vehicle near Hearst, east of Thunder Bay.
