We told you last week about a house fire in Blackpool and we have a sad update to bring you. Emergency services received a report of a house fire on Redcar Road at 9:37am on Tuesday June 30th. Two people: a 19-year-old man and a 13-year-old boy were taken to hospital with serious injuries and very sadly the 13-year-old, who can now be named as Coby Keogh, (pictured here) died from his injuries on Sunday. Our thoughts are with Coby’s loved ones at this time, and they are being supported by specially trained officers. A file will be prepared for HM Coroner. The 19-year-old remains in a serious condition. Three other people in the house suffered minor injuries. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing between police and the fire and rescue service and there is no third-party involvement. At this time, we believe the fire was started by an e-bike.

Preliminary evidence points to an e‑bike as the likely ignition source. Further analysis is underway to confirm this finding.

Authorities are continuing to examine the incident to confirm the cause and determine any safety implications. The investigation remains ongoing.
