A 60‑foot motorboat went up in flames off the southern coast of the United Kingdom, approximately 20 miles south of the mainland near the Isles of Scilly. The vessel was seen with thick black smoke pouring from the saloon.
The blaze was triggered when the engine exploded, producing a sudden outburst of black smoke that forced the crew to abandon the boat. All four occupants were instructed to leave immediately as the fire threatened to spread.
The Coastguard called for assistance at 5:35 p.m., prompting the St Mary's RNLI station to launch a lifeboat. The crew was prepared to approach the engine bay with extreme caution.
The lifeboat crew positioned themselves alongside the burning vessel and safely extracted all four individuals. The rescuers confirmed that none of the passengers suffered injuries or smoke inhalation.
The rescued passengers were transported back to St Mary's harbour, where local friends provided care. The incident ended with no reported injuries and the boat left to be inspected.
