The US President Donald Trump has claimed two more golf trophies after shooting a remarkable two-under-par round at one of his own courses.
The 80-year-old completed the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster course in just 70 shots to win its senior and super senior championships. This achievement earned him two more club championship trophies.
Trump expressed gratitude to those who participated in the tournament, stating that his exceptional score was a testament to his natural talent. 'It's called TALENT, and I have it, and they don't!' he claimed.
The Bedminster course has a par of 72, making the claimed score an exceptional round for an amateur golfer of any age. Trump's weekend victories took his career collection to 43 club championships, although that tally has long been questioned by golf writers and fans.
Trump has a history of producing exceptional scores at the same annual competition, with a scorecard shared by The White House showing him completing his round in 69 shots, with a net score of 67 after his handicap was applied.
The president has never lacked confidence in his ability, previously stating that he has played a lot and played well, and that there are very few people who can beat him in golf. His golf game has received some praise from respected figures within the sport, including major winners.
However, Trump's championship claims have attracted particular scrutiny due to the way he plays exactly and the manner in which he records his scores. Questions about taking excessive mulligans and recording favourable scores from rounds played away from other competitors have been raised.
Despite these allegations, Trump has continued to collect titles and present his results as proof of his natural ability and physical fitness. The latest victory came during a weekend in New Jersey, where he also faced a rather smaller golfing controversy – removing his glove during a meeting with US military personnel.
