Influencer Hasan Piker, a prominent figure on the political left, joined Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong at a rally in Milwaukee on Sunday.
During the event, Piker told the audience that once their movement achieved its objectives, a Republican would never again be elected in the state.
He described the effort as a working‑class movement, a characterization that has drawn criticism from observers who note that the Democratic Socialists of America have relatively few working‑class members and advocate policies some argue could adversely affect low‑income workers.
The rally also featured Rep. Ilhan Omar, a leading progressive member of Congress, who spoke alongside the candidates.
Piker’s public statements have previously sparked controversy, including remarks that America “deserved” the September 11 attacks, calls for violent action against a Republican senator, and language urging streets to be soaked in “red capitalist blood.”
