Buttigieg Seeks Electoral College Reform

Pete Buttigieg, the former Secretary of Transportation, has been sharing his vision for the future of the United States, and his latest comments have sparked interest. In a recent interview, Buttigieg discussed his plans to reform the country's constitutional political system, including abolishing the Electoral College and reforming the Supreme Court.

Buttigieg expressed his surprise that anyone would consider these proposals radical, stating that the Constitution's ability to be amended is one of its strongest features. He argued that eliminating the Electoral College and deciding the presidency through a nationwide popular vote would have numerous benefits, including forcing presidential candidates to compete in all states, rather than just key battlegrounds.

Buttigieg also proposed reforming the Supreme Court, suggesting term limits, an increased number of justices, and a more balanced selection process. He cited the balanced-bench proposal as a potential solution, which would aim to reduce partisanship in the court. These comments have been seen as an attempt to appeal to the far-left wing of the Democratic Party, potentially paving the way for another presidential run.

Despite his efforts, Buttigieg is currently unlikely to secure the Democratic nomination in 2028, due in part to his poor polling among minority voters. However, he may remain in the race with the hope of being chosen as a vice presidential candidate, which could be his most viable path forward.
