Isabela Expands Cacao Production, Strengthening Local Economy

Isabela provincial authorities are intensifying efforts to grow the region’s cacao industry, focusing on value‑added products and expanded farmer support.

The 2nd Isabela Cacao Festival in Echague highlighted local growers’ new offerings, including chocolates, tablea, and specialty drinks, drawing attention to the province’s growing cacao portfolio.

During the festival, participants received hands‑on training covering production techniques, post‑harvest processing, pest management, and financial management, equipping farmers with skills to improve quality and profitability.

Provincial Agriculturist Sergio ST. Galamgam emphasized collaboration with national agencies and industry partners to broaden plantation acreage, enhance processing capabilities, and open additional market avenues.

Echague Mayor Faustino “Inno” A. Dy V noted that sustained government backing and stronger partnerships will position Isabela among the country’s top cacao producers, while providing farmers with more lucrative livelihoods.

These initiatives aim to strengthen the cacao supply chain, raise product standards, and secure a brighter economic future for the province’s cacao community.
