The blast occurred at approximately 19:55 on Saturday near Kudrinskaya Square. A woman attempted to bring the device into the venue, but a security guard stopped her, triggering the explosion.
The fatalities include the security guard, the woman herself, and a restaurant patron. Twenty‑one additional diners suffered injuries ranging from minor to serious.
Dozens of emergency vehicles, police units and National Guard forces arrived promptly and cordoned off the scene.
The attack took place at the Balzi Rossi Italian restaurant, which was hosting a wedding reception for roughly fifty guests.
