Jermaine Jenas urges Newcastle star on £60m Man United bid

Former England midfielder Jermaine Jenas has said that a transfer to Manchester United would represent a “great move” for Newcastle United left‑back Lewis Hall.

Former Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick also expressed interest in Hall, viewing him as a viable option to provide depth and competition for the club’s senior left‑back.

Hall, 21, has voiced frustration at Newcastle after missing selection for England’s World Cup squad and has reportedly indicated a desire to leave the club.

Newcastle United remain reluctant to part with the promising defender but have indicated willingness to consider offers, with an initial valuation placed at £60 million.

Jenas praised Hall’s progress over the past two seasons, noting that a move to Old Trafford would be a significant step up both for the player and for the buying club.

Having spent a decade in the Chelsea academy and making limited first‑team appearances before joining Newcastle, Hall has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most consistent left‑backs.

The club’s off‑field situation has been turbulent, highlighted by the departure of manager Eddie Howe after nearly five years and the transfer of midfielder Sandro Tonali to Tottenham.

German coach Matthias Jaissle, currently managing a Saudi Pro League side, is emerging as the leading candidate to succeed Howe at Newcastle.

Newcastle’s season will commence with a Premier League clash against Liverpool on August 23.
